The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects involved in the gruesome murder of Dahiru Musa, a 32-year-old resident of Dorayi Quarters, Kano, over a land transaction dispute.
The suspects, identified as Aliyu Adamu, 22; Mubarak Abdulsalam, 20; and Sadiq Sunusi, 19, allegedly poisoned Musa, stabbed him to death, and later attempted to burn his body to conceal the crime.
This was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, in a statement.
The police revealed that the suspects lured Musa under false pretenses, offering poisoned food before killing him and dumping his body in an uncompleted building. The motive was reportedly to take over the victim’s property, with Adamu securing Musa’s land documents after the murder.
Upon Adamu’s arrest, further investigation revealed that Abdulsalam and Sunusi later conspired to burn the body to destroy evidence. The charred remains were recovered and sent for an autopsy at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Garba, commended the public for their cooperation, urging caution during transactions, especially in unfamiliar locations. The suspects remain in custody and will be charged in court following the investigation.
