Date:

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested nine suspects in connection with the brutal killing of 70-year-old Rachael Bamidele and a violent arson attack that destroyed multiple homes in Aagba community, Surulere Local Government Area. The incident occurred on April 5, 2025, when assailants from a neighboring community allegedly launched an attack amid a long-standing land dispute.

Police spokesperson SP Adewale Osifeso confirmed that the violence left nine houses burned and looted, forcing many residents to flee. The attackers reportedly targeted individuals involved in ongoing court cases over the disputed land. Among those arrested is 33-year-old Salawudeen Ismaila from Oko community, while three unregistered Boxer motorcycles were recovered during investigations.

Commissioner of Police Johnson Adenola swiftly deployed tactical teams, including Police Mobile Force officers, to restore order and enable displaced villagers to return home. The police command emphasized its zero-tolerance stance on violence and assured residents of continued efforts to apprehend remaining suspects and maintain security in the area.
