Nigerian track star Tobi Amusan has advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s 100-meter hurdles at the Paris Olympics.
Amusan clocked a time of 12.49 seconds to win Heat 1 and secure her spot in the semi-finals.
American Alaysha Johnson finished second in the heat with a time of 12.61 seconds, while Jamaica’s Janeek Brown took third with a time of 12.84 seconds.
As the world record holder, Amusan is a key medal prospect for Nigeria and aims to enhance her country’s chances at the games.
The 27-year-old has been in exceptional form leading up to the event, including a season-best and world-leading time of 12.40 seconds at the Jamaican Athletics Invitational in Kingston this past May.
