Spectacular backheel strike against Osasuna earns Valencia forward prestigious honor

VALENCIA — Nigerian international Umar Sadiq has won LaLiga’s Goal of the Month award for March with an audacious backheel finish during Valencia’s 3-3 draw against Osasuna. The 28-year-old striker’s improvised effort – executed with his back to goal – edged out competition from Rayo Vallecano’s Diego García and Villarreal’s Andrei Rațiu.

Since joining Valencia on loan from Real Sociedad in January, Sadiq has:

  • Scored 4 goals in 8 league appearances
  • Provided crucial attacking impetus for Los Che
  • Earned recall to Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying squad

The award marks Sadiq’s first such honor in Spain’s top flight, coming during a resurgent spell after injury setbacks. His technical mastery was on full display in the 64th-minute equalizer that showcased both creativity and precision under pressure.

ADBN Sports confirms the Super Eagles forward will receive formal recognition during Valencia’s next home fixture at Mestalla Stadium.
