Nigerian Navy to Deploy More Equipment Against Boko Haram, ISWAP in Lake Chad Region

Date:

In a renewed effort to combat insurgency in the Northeast, the Nigerian Navy is set to deploy additional combat equipment and personnel to the Lake Chad region to strengthen operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists.

Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, made this known during an operational visit to the Nigerian Navy base in Baga, located in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The visit follows a recent attempted attack on the Baga base by ISWAP fighters, which was successfully repelled by naval forces. The confrontation resulted in heavy casualties on the side of the insurgents.

Vice Admiral Ogalla praised the troops for their swift and courageous response, describing their actions as decisive and a testament to the Navy’s commitment to national security. He emphasized that any future attacks by insurgents would be met with even greater force.“

The Baga base remains a critical hub for our counter-insurgency operations in the Northeast,” he stated. “We are committed to boosting the morale and capability of our personnel by providing increased firepower and additional reinforcements.”

The Nigerian Navy continues to play a pivotal role in the multi-agency efforts to dismantle terrorist strongholds and restore lasting peace in the region.
