Nigerian Army Debunks Viral Report of Recruiting Jihadists

Nigerian Army has dismissed a viral report circulating online, which falsely claimed that the Army is recruiting Islamic fundamentalists and jihadists.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement said the footage purportedly showing an officer urging Muslim young men to join the military to protect and propagate Islam is misleading and aimed at sowing discord and causing religious crisis.

The statement added that the Army remains committed to upholding professionalism, impartiality, and the constitutional provisions guiding its operations.

General Nwachukwu however urged citizens to disregard the report and unite against divisive tactics, emphasizing that Nigeria’s strength lies in its unity in diversity.
