NIGERIA AND SOUTH AFRICA TO LEAD AFRICA’S TRANSFORMATION, SAYS PRESIDENT TINUBU

Date:

President Bola Tinubu has called for stronger cooperation between Nigeria and South Africa to spearhead Africa’s economic integration and leadership transformation.

Speaking at the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Cape Town, Tinubu emphasized the need to resolve “irritants” in bilateral relations and focus on elevating the continent’s global standing.

Highlighting Nigeria’s aspiration to join the G20 alongside South Africa, President Tinubu urged the two nations to lead efforts in tackling illegal mining, fostering youth development, and implementing actionable agreements under the BNC framework.

He noted the significant investments Nigerian and South African businesses have made in each other’s economies but stressed the need to remove lingering barriers to investment. Tinubu also reflected on the historical ties between the two nations, reaffirming their shared responsibility to uplift Africa’s people and address global challenges as a united front.
