NDDC Commissions 9km Obehie-Oke-Ikpe Road, Flag Off Phase Two in Abia

Date:

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has restated its commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” directive for the completion of abandoned projects in the Niger Delta region.

NDDC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, made this remark at the Commissioning of the Obehie-Oke-Ikpe Road and the launch of the second phase of the road project.

During the event, Governor Alex Otti, represented by his Deputy, Engineer Ikechukwu Emetu, reiterated the interventionist Agency’s appeal for communities to refrain from vandalizing government facilities in the area.

Representative of NDDC Abia State, Chief Eruba Dimgba, stated that the Obehie-Oke-Ikpe Road, which connects to Akwa Ibom State, was in a deplorable condition before its emergency construction began in April 2022.

He emphasized that the second phase of the road project, solely funded by NDDC, is scheduled for completion within two years.

After the Commissioning, the NDDC Team, accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engineer Ikechukwu Emetu, flagged off the emergency reconstruction of the 12km Oke-Ikpe to Akwete Ohambele Road phase two project.

The Commissioning and Flag-Off ceremonies demonstrate NDDC’s dedication to fulfilling its mandate and supporting the federal government’s development initiatives in the Niger Delta region.
