Dr. Emem Omokaro, Director General of the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC), has reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to establishing a sustainable framework for the care of older persons in Nigeria. This pledge was made during the closing ceremony of the Week Two In-Class Training for Quality Assurance Assessors Certification in Abuja, which marks the certification of the first set of trained caregivers for older persons.

Dr. Omokaro emphasized the importance of identifying and addressing gaps in the geriatric care industry, highlighting the training as a significant step toward ensuring that senior citizens receive high-quality care and support from certified caregivers.
Prof. Idris Bugaje, Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, represented by the Director of Technical and Vocational Education, Engr. Yusuf Mohammed praised the NSCC’s leadership for engaging key stakeholders. He noted that collaboration is essential for developing a skilled workforce in geriatric care.
The National Senior Citizens Centre remains steadfast in its mission to create a nation where older persons live with dignity and without oppression.
