Nasarawa Labour Union Suspends Strike After Minimum Wage Agreement

Date:

The organized labour union in Nasarawa State has suspended its two-week strike following an agreement reached with the state government on the implementation of the new national minimum wage.

The strike, which began on December 2, 2024, was triggered by delays in implementing the wage adjustment.

During the signing of the agreement, Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe expressed gratitude to the union for their patience and sacrifices while recognizing the legitimacy of their demands. He assured workers that no participant would face penalties for joining the strike.

Nasarawa State NLC Chairman, Ayuba Ismaila Okoh, appreciated the state government’s responsiveness and pledged the union’s commitment to upholding high work standards.

Under the agreement, the state government will pay a minimum wage of ₦70,500, with consequential adjustments for workers across all categories.
