MONACO STUNS BARCELONA WITH 2-1 VICTORY: ILENIKHENA SHINES ON CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DEBUT

Date:

Nigerian striker George Ilenikhena made an impressive debut in the Champions League, scoring as Monaco defeated 10-man Barcelona two-one.

The 18-year-old substitute seized the opportunity in the 71st minute, sprinting onto Vanderson’s long ball over the defense and driving his shot past goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen.

Monaco took the lead after Barcelona was reduced to ten men, but Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal equalized with his first Champions League goal.

However, Ilenikhena’s strike, his first since joining from Royal Antwerp this summer, ultimately sealed the defeat for Barcelona.
