MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR NIDCOM

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has reiterated its commitment to collaborating with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) to advance its objectives. This assurance was given by Dr. Dunoma Umar Ahmed, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, during a strategic meeting with NiDCOM officials, led by Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa in Abuja.

Dr. Ahmed emphasized the Ministry’s interest in actively supporting NiDCOM’s Data Mapping Initiative, aimed at creating a comprehensive database of Nigerians living abroad.

He also urged NiDCOM to intensify its efforts to educate citizens about legal migration channels, noting the importance of structured labor migration in reducing exploitation and illegal practices.

Hon. Dabiri-Erewa expressed gratitude for the Ministry’s consistent support and outlined NiDCOM’s initiatives, including the Diaspora Investment Summit and the National Diaspora Day.

Both agencies pledged to work together to enhance Nigeria’s engagement with its diaspora community, focusing on national development and strengthening ties with Nigerians worldwide.
