President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered Sections 3 and 4 of the Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway Project to begin from Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, respectively.
Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, in disclosing this, called President Tinubu a visionary and bold leader and stressed the observation of due procedure in awarding the contract for the initiative.
Engr. Umahi also revealed ongoing progress on over 40 new projects nationwide, noting that compensations for up to kilometer six of the Lagos-Calabar project have been duly disbursed.
Meanwhile, Oba Abdulwasiu Lawal, the Oniru of Iruland in Lagos State, whose community will be impacted by the road construction, assured President Tinubu of the community’s commitment to facilitate the project’s smooth execution.
He highlighted the sacrifices made by his people and urged for fair compensation.
In separate statements, Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara, and Hope Uzodinma of Imo lauded the widespread support from sub-national entities, viewing it as a strong vote of confidence and backing for this pivotal project.
