Real Madrid will be without star forward Kylian Mbappe for their Copa del Rey semi-final first leg against Real Sociedad on Wednesday due to a dental problem. The French international, who is Real Madrid’s top scorer this season with 28 goals in 39 matches across all competitions, did not participate in Tuesday’s training session.
Despite his absence from the squad, coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Mbappe would travel to San Sebastian with the team.
In addition to Mbappe, midfielder Fede Valverde and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois were also left out of the traveling group to recover from minor fitness issues. However, England international Jude Bellingham has returned to the squad after serving a suspension during Sunday’s La Liga victory over Girona.
The absence of Mbappe, a key player for Real Madrid, could pose a challenge for the team as they aim to secure a positive result in the first leg of the semi-final.
In the other Copa del Rey semi-final, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid played out an electrifying 4-4 draw in the first leg on Tuesday, setting the stage for an intense second-leg showdown.
