Lookman’s Goal Not Enough as Atalanta Exit Champions League

Date:

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman was on target for Atalanta, but it wasn’t enough as they were eliminated from the Champions League after suffering a 3-1 defeat at home, losing 5-2 on aggregate to Club Brugge.

Club Brugge struck three times in the first half on Tuesday night, securing their progression to the next stage. They will now face either Aston Villa or Lille in the round of 16 next month.

In another dramatic encounter, AC Milan were left to rue Theo Hernandez’s second yellow card for diving as Feyenoord advanced to the Champions League last 16. The Dutch team secured a 1-1 draw in the second leg of their playoff, which handed them a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Feyenoord will now meet either Inter Milan or Arsenal in the round of 16.

Meanwhile, Benfica managed to hold off a spirited comeback from Monaco in a thrilling 3-3 draw in Lisbon, ensuring their place in the Champions League last 16.

Benfica will now face either Barcelona or Liverpool in the next round.
