The Kano State Police Command has banned all Sallah Durbar celebrations ahead of the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr festivities due to security concerns.
Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori announced the ban at the Bompai Police Headquarters, citing intelligence reports of planned disruptions. He said consultations with the Kano State Government and stakeholders led to the decision to prohibit the event.
“To ensure public safety and prevent unrest, the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has assessed the risks and imposed a ban on all Durbar activities statewide,” Bakori stated.
He urged worshippers to observe Eid prayers only at designated grounds and follow security directives, including avoiding suspicious objects, refraining from horse riding, reckless driving, and keeping children away from disruptive activities.
Bakori assured residents of adequate security deployment and encouraged them to report suspicious activities via emergency contacts: 08032419754, 08123821575, 09029292926, or the NPF Rescue Me app.
