The Kaduna State Executive Council has approved the procurement of 120,000 bags of fertiliser for smallholder farmers and the construction of 11 township roads in Zaria and Sabon Gari Local Government Areas to boost agriculture and infrastructure development.
The approvals were among key decisions reached at the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Uba Sani.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, said the procurement of 6,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser aligns with the administration’s farmer-first policy and is aimed at improving agricultural productivity and strengthening food security across the state.
The council also approved the second phase of township road construction in Zaria and Sabon Gari, saying the projects will improve connectivity, ease the movement of people and goods, and stimulate economic activities.
In the education sector, the council approved the Kaduna State Life Skills Policy to equip learners with practical skills for education, employment and entrepreneurship, making Kaduna the first state in Nigeria to adopt the framework.
It also approved the Kaduna State Policy on Gender in Education to promote equitable access to quality education, eliminate gender-based barriers and improve learning outcomes.
The state government said the approvals reflect its commitment to expanding opportunities in agriculture, education and infrastructure as part of its broader development agenda.
