The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has officially suspended its ongoing strike and directed all judiciary workers to resume duty on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
This decision was contained in a communique signed by JUSUN’s National Vice President and 10 other top officials, following extensive deliberations and a series of meetings with key stakeholders including the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and representatives from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and other relevant bodies.
The communique stated that the suspension would pave the way for continued engagement with the Federal Government to ensure release of funds to the judiciary within one month. Upon release, demands such as the implementation of the ₦70,000 new minimum wage, its arrears, 25/35% salary increment, and the five-month wage award would be addressed immediately.
Stakeholders agreed that dialogue was the best path forward, and JUSUN members have been urged to return to work while negotiations continue.
Signatories to the communique included the National Assistant Financial Secretary and chairmen of JUSUN chapters across the FJSC, Court of Appeal, Federal High Court, National Industrial Court, National Judicial Institute, FCT High Court, FCT Sharia and Customary Courts, and the FCT Judicial Service Commission.
