JUST IN: Several Feared Abducted as Armed Kidnappers Raid Abuja Estate

Date:

Gunmen hold residents hostage for over an hour in overnight attack

A group of heavily armed kidnappers stormed the Grow Homes Estate in the Chikakore area of Kubwa, a major suburb of Abuja, early Monday morning, leaving residents in fear and uncertainty.

The attack reportedly occurred between 12:00 am and 1:30 am, during which the assailants overpowered the local vigilance team and held residents hostage for more than an hour.

According to eyewitness accounts, at least two residents—a man and a woman—were seen taken away. However, the woman was later found within the estate under unclear circumstances. The exact number of abductees remains unconfirmed.

“There was a serious exchange of gunfire when the police arrived around 1:00 am. It lasted about 30 minutes,” a resident told ADBN, pleading anonymity.

The resident also called on authorities to rehabilitate access roads and establish a police station within the area to improve security and enable quicker response times in emergencies.

As of press time, security agencies had not issued an official statement. The situation remains tense as residents await updates.
