Information Minister Mourns Arise News Anchor, Assures Swift Investigation

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, an anchor with Arise News.

In a condolence message addressed to the Chairman of Arise News, Nduka Obaigbena, the minister described her passing as a “grievous loss not only to her family and colleagues, but also to the Nigerian media and the nation.”

“Ms. Maduagwu was a vibrant and dedicated anchor, consummate lawyer, and a model of professionalism whose work resonated with audiences across Nigeria and beyond,” Idris said.

He condemned the incident as “heinous” and assured that there would be a swift investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding her death.

The minister also extended his sympathy to her parents, siblings, colleagues, and all who knew her, praying that they find the strength to bear the loss.
