The Federal Government has cancelled the parade earlier scheduled to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary on October 1, 2025.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Director of Information and Public Relations Segun Imohiosen said the decision does not diminish the significance of the milestone celebration.
“The government remains committed to celebrating Nigeria’s 65th year of independence with dignity and enthusiasm,” the statement read.
It added that all other programmes slated for the anniversary — themed “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation” — will hold as planned.
The government apologised for any inconvenience caused and urged Nigerians, the diplomatic community, and invited guests to support the reforms of President Bola Tinubu aimed at building a greater nation.
This comes after the Federal Government declared Wednesday, October 1, a public holiday to commemorate the Independence Anniversary.
