INEC Urges Media to Enhance Voter Participation in Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has called on Media Organisations to effectively mobilise prospective voters’ participation ahead of the Edo and Ondo off-cycle elections.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu made the call during the Second Regular Quarterly Consultative Meeting with the Media Organisations, in Abuja.

Prof. Yakubu also emphasized that the voter registration exercise can only be a success with the cooperation and support of the media.

President, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Dr. Chris Isiguzo represented by the National Secretary, Mr. Chika Chudi assured the Commission that the Media will do its best to ensure a successful election in the two states.

Recall, that the Edo State Governorship Election is scheduled to hold on Saturday 21st September, 2024 while that of Ondo State is scheduled to hold on Saturday 16th November 2024 respectively.
