GENERAL MUSA HIGHLIGHTS IMPORTANCE OF 2ND ALL-AFRICA MILITARY GAMES IN ABUJA

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has emphasized the significance of the 2nd All-Africa Military Games, set to take place in Abuja from 18th to 30th November, in strengthening military partnerships across the African continent.

Speaking at a news briefing ahead of the Games opening ceremony on Wednesday, General Musa highlighted the importance of the event not only to Nigeria but also to the broader African military community.

He noted that this marks the first time Nigeria is hosting the prestigious military competition, which will see 26 African nations competing across 19 sporting events.

The Defence Chief underscored the potential of the Games to foster closer ties between African armed forces and enhance cooperation in various areas.

The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis, also shared key details about the Games, including its historical background.

The first edition of the African Military Games took place in Nairobi, Kenya in 2002, with 32 African nations in attendance.

Organized under the auspices of the Organization of Military Sports in Africa and the International Military Sports Council, the event aims to promote unity, sportsmanship, and collaboration among African military personnel.
