Fire Breaks Out at Lagos State Government Staff Quarters, No Casualties Reported

Date:

A fire incident occurred early this morning at the Lagos State Government Staff Quarters on Odunsanmi Street, off WEMPCO Road in the Ogba area of Lagos State.

The fire started around 2:20 a.m. and affected one of the two-bedroom apartments in Flat 5 of Block 21, a three-story building containing 16 two-bedroom flats.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) revealed that the fire was caused by an electrical surge in the children’s room.

According to Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, the fire destroyed the children’s bedroom, resulting in the loss of properties worth millions of naira.

“The prompt and coordinated efforts of the Agency’s LRT, NPF, and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service ensured the fire was quickly contained and extinguished,” Dr. Oke-Osanyitolu stated.

He also confirmed that there were no injuries or fatalities resulting from the incident.

In response to the incident, victims and other residents were educated on the proper use of electrical appliances to prevent future occurrences.

As of 5 a.m., officials from LASEMA, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and the Nigerian Police Force were still on the scene to ensure the situation was fully under control.
