Finnish-Nigerian separatist agitator Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, has been arrested in Finland alongside four others for alleged terror-related activities.
The Päijät-Häme District Court remanded Ekpa on charges of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent, while the other suspects were apprehended for allegedly financing terrorist activities.
A statement from the Finnish Central Criminal Police on Thursday, November 21, confirmed the arrests, revealing that Ekpa, the main suspect, is accused of promoting activities leading to violence against civilians and authorities in southeastern Nigeria.
Crime Commissioner Otto Hiltunen, head of the investigation, disclosed that Ekpa’s alleged actions were carried out via social media channels.
The police emphasized the role of international cooperation in the preliminary investigation.
The Päijät-Häme District Court is hearing the case, as investigations into the suspected crimes continue.
