The Federal Government has unveiled plans to invest $2 billion to deploy a 90,000-kilometre fibre optic project aimed at expanding Nigeria’s fibre optic network from 35,000km to 125,000km.
This initiative, announced by the Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, during a facility tour in Kano on Monday, is designed to enhance connectivity across the country.

The project will also ensure key institutions like schools, hospitals, and government offices are connected, driving economic growth through digital technology.
The minister highlighted the ongoing Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, which aims to equip three million Nigerians with digital and technical skills to meet the growing demand for professionals in fields such as software development, cybersecurity, and data science. The youth of Kano have emerged as the largest group of beneficiaries from this initiative.
