FG Resolves Passport Printer Crisis at New York and Atlanta Consulates

Date:

The Federal Government has announced the resolution of the passport printer crisis at Nigeria’s consulates in New York and Atlanta, United States.

This follows directives issued in January 2025 by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, leading to the delivery and installation of new passport printers by the Nigeria Immigration Service at both locations.

The move comes in response to concerns raised by Nigerians in the diaspora, who reported delays in passport processing due to outdated printing machines.

In a statement, Mr. Babatunde Alao, Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of Interior, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to innovation and improved service delivery.

The installation is part of broader ongoing reforms, including the Abuja Passport Personalisation Centre and the expansion of contactless solutions across more regions.
