FG Partners INTERPOL to Enhance Information Sharing in Security Operations

The Federal Government, in collaboration with the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), has taken a significant step toward strengthening security operations in Nigeria. The Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, declared open a workshop aimed at enhancing the capacity of law enforcement agencies to combat transnational crimes through improved information sharing and collaboration.

The event, which brought together security managers and representatives from various law enforcement agencies, focused on best practices, emerging threats, and the critical role of INTERPOL’s tools and resources in global crime-fighting efforts.

In his opening remarks, Senator Gaidam emphasized the importance of INTERPOL in modern policing and security management. He urged law enforcement officers to leverage INTERPOL’s vast database and communication network to effectively tackle international crime. “This workshop is a vital step toward equipping our security personnel with the knowledge and resources needed to address the growing challenges of transnational crime,” he stated.

Representing the Inspector General of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Patrick highlighted the relevance of the workshop in enhancing police operations and cross-border crime prevention strategies. He reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to adopting INTERPOL’s tools to improve efficiency and collaboration with international partners.

The Chief of Defense Staff, represented at the event, also emphasized the military’s dedication to working closely with INTERPOL and other security agencies to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity. He noted that the workshop would foster stronger ties between the military and law enforcement agencies in addressing security challenges.

The workshop is expected to bolster Nigeria’s capacity to combat transnational crimes such as terrorism, human trafficking, cybercrime, and drug smuggling. By improving information sharing and international cooperation, the initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of law enforcement operations and strengthen Nigeria’s position in global security efforts.
