The Federal Government has filed a new 16-count charge against former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, alleging a criminal breach of trust involving N110.4 billion.
The charges, filed before an Abuja High Court, accuse Bello and two state officials, Abdulsalami Hudu and Umar Oricha, of using public funds to acquire properties in Abuja and Dubai.
Among the charges, the defendants are alleged to have spent state funds on luxury real estate, including N950 million for a Maitama property and 5.7 million dirhams for a Dubai apartment.
The case also includes accusations of transferring funds to U.S. bank accounts and using state resources for personal enrichment.
Bello, alongside his co-defendants, is facing charges under Sections 96 and 311 of the Penal Code Law, with punishments under Section 312 of the same law.
