The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, has reiterated the Federal Government’s dedication to enhancing investments in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. The minister made this declaration during a one-day familiarization visit to TotalEnergies’ offshore fields, Ofon and Egina, where he assessed the company’s investment plans, ongoing projects, and operational challenges.
During the visit, Sen. Lokpobiri commended TotalEnergies for aligning with the Federal Government’s expectations for International Oil Companies (IOCs). He acknowledged the challenges faced by IOCs, particularly in areas such as capital expenditure and community relations, but assured stakeholders of the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for investment and growth in the sector.
In response, TotalEnergies’ Managing Director, Mr. Matthieu Bouyer, expressed the company’s readiness to collaborate with the government to boost production levels. He highlighted that upcoming projects by TotalEnergies are poised to not only increase oil production but also generate additional revenue for the government, further solidifying the partnership between the company and Nigeria.
The visit underscores the government’s proactive approach to addressing sectoral challenges and strengthening collaboration with key industry players to drive economic growth and maximize the potential of Nigeria’s oil and gas resources.
