The Federal Government, in collaboration with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has officially commissioned the newly completed Eziama-Abba-Owerre Nkworji road in Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State.
The commissioning ceremony, held at Owerre Nkworji Secondary School, was attended by prominent government officials, including Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma, Minister for Regional Development Engineer Abubakar Momoh, NDDC Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Dr. Samuel Ogboku, and NDDC Governing Board Chairman Dr. Chiedu Ebie, among other stakeholders.
The 11km road project, which cuts across Isiala Mbano and Nwangele Local Government Areas, is expected to drastically reduce travel time for motorists and improve the socio-economic conditions of the region.
During the event, Dr. Samuel Ogboku expressed gratitude to Governor Uzodinma and his cabinet for their support throughout the project, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the NDDC and state governments in advancing critical infrastructure development.
Minister Abubakar Momoh highlighted the importance of community ownership in maintaining government projects, urging residents and local authorities to ensure the preservation of the road.
Governor Hope Uzodinma thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing the new NDDC board, praising their proactive approach and innovative leadership in driving development in the region.
Other dignitaries who delivered goodwill messages included House of Representatives Member for Niger Delta Hon. Erhiatake Ibori, NDDC Executive Director of Finance and Administration Hon. Boma Iyaye, and NDDC Executive Director of Works Sir Victor Anai.
With the commissioning of this road, the communities of Eziama, Abba, and Owerre Nkworji are now better connected, opening up improved transportation and economic opportunities for residents.
