The Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, has commissioned the rebuilt 9.6-kilometer Abraka-Oben Road in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State. The road, reconstructed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), was inaugurated during a ceremony attended by key stakeholders.
Engr. Momoh emphasized that the project demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to developing the Niger Delta region. He commended the NDDC Board and Management for their swift response to President Bola Tinubu’s directives to positively impact the region through infrastructure development.
Mr. Chiedu Ebie, Chairman of the NDDC Governing Board, noted that the project reflects the Tinubu administration’s desire to transform the Niger Delta into a zone of peace and development. He expressed pride in the project, highlighting its significance as the first landmark project commissioned in Delta State since the current administration assumed office.
Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the NDDC, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to advancing the implementation of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He stressed the importance of partnerships with stakeholders to achieve faster and more holistic development in the region.
In addition to commissioning the Abraka-Oben Road, the Minister also launched the reconstruction of the Abraka-Agbor Road, which is expected to further enhance regional connectivity and economic development.
The projects underscore the Federal Government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and foster sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.
