Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike has emphasized the critical importance of supporting the judiciary to ensure equitable justice delivery. This was during the flag-off ceremony for constructing 40 judges’ quarters in Abuja.
Barr. Wike highlighted that strengthening the judiciary aligns with the goals of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He pointed out that providing adequate housing is fundamental to the welfare of judges, boosting morale, and improving productivity.
Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Motonmori Kekere-Ekun, reaffirmed the judiciary’s essential role in upholding the rule of law and protecting citizens’ rights. She emphasized the need for a conducive environment to ensure the judiciary’s independence and impartiality.
At the event, Barr. Wike handed over Certificates of Occupancy to the heads of the FCT High Court, Court of Appeal, and Federal High Court. Of the 40 housing units, 20 will be allocated to the FCT High Court, and 10 units each will be provided to the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court.
