The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has launched a campaign to ensure adherence to price display and quantity compliance regulations at supermarkets across Abuja.
The action follows consumer concerns regarding escalating prices of goods, contradicting the recent naira strengthening.
The Commission underscores that price discrepancies persist as a notable issue, emphasizing consumers’ entitlement to price transparency for intended purchases. The initiative comes after the commission’s expressed worry about continual goods and services price hikes despite the naira’s appreciation against the dollar.
Meanwhile, the Commission has sealed 4U Supermarket in Abuja.

The FCCPC officials sealed the supermarket on Thursday due to reported unfair practices by its management, marking a significant step in their ongoing enforcement efforts across the nation’s capital.
An official statement says the closure of the 4U Supermarket by FCCPC is part of a broader enforcement effort aimed at ensuring compliance with pricing and quantity regulations.
The statement regretted that despite improvements in currency rates, consumers continue to face inflated prices and unfair practices, prompting FCCPC to take proactive measures in response to consumer concerns and regulatory issues.
