Explosion Rocks Jos, Several Injured, Investigation Underway

A powerful explosion rocked Jos on Tuesday morning, sending shockwaves through surrounding areas.

The blast occurred around 10:30 am near the busy Terminus market, leaving several people injured, with unconfirmed reports suggesting fatalities.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos, with people fleeing in panic. “I was nearby when I heard a loud bang. People were running and screaming. It was terrifying,” said Gyang Buba, a clothes vendor.

Emergency services, including police, fire, and ambulance teams, quickly responded to the scene. The Plateau State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement, though sources confirmed the explosion and indicated that an investigation is underway.

“The area has been cordoned off as we begin our investigation into the cause of the explosion. We urge the public to remain calm as we work to ensure safety,” a security source stated.

The incident has heightened security concerns in Jos, where violence and unrest have been periodic in recent years. Local residents are calling for increased security measures in the wake of the explosion.
