In a significant development ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State, stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ekiti Central Senatorial District have unanimously endorsed Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second term in office.
The endorsement was made during a special senatorial meeting organized by APC leaders and stakeholders from the district, held at the Fajuyi Pavilion in Ado Ekiti, the state capital. The motion for endorsement, passed through a resounding voice vote, was moved and seconded by prominent leaders from the district’s five local government areas.
Key leaders present at the meeting included Senator Babafemi Ojudu, two-time Commissioner Mrs. Ronke Okunsanya, serving House of Representatives members Hon. Biodun Omoleye and Hon. Sola Fatoba, former Acting Governor Rt. Hon. Tope Ademiluyi, former House of Representatives member Hon. Wumi Ogunlola, and other party elders.
In a resolution presented to the APC Acting State Chairman, Sola Elesin, and a letter sent to the Governor by Professor Modupe Adelabu, the former Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Ekiti Central APC Stakeholders, the party reaffirmed that Governor Oyebanji is the sole candidate for the 2026 election.
Prof. Adelabu stated that the endorsement was based on Governor Oyebanji’s remarkable achievements in office, which the stakeholders believe justify his re-election. The leaders praised his commitment to development, good governance, and inclusive leadership, expressing confidence in his ability to continue delivering progress for Ekiti State.
This endorsement signals strong party unity and support for Governor Oyebanji as the APC prepares for the 2026 governorship race.
