The Edo State Government has approved the dissolution of all commissions in the state public service with immediate effect.
This was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Ikhilor, who directed all chairmen and members of the affected commissions to hand over government properties in their possession to the most senior public officers in their respective commissions.
The statement reads:
“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the dissolution of all commissions in Edo State Government Public Service with immediate effect.
“For purposes of emphasis, the commissions include the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, the Civil Service Commission, Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, Edo State Forestry Commission, the House of Assembly Service Commission, the State Audit Service Commission, and the Judicial Service Commission.
“Accordingly, all chairmen and members of the commissions are advised to hand over all government properties in their possession to the most senior public officer in their commission.”
The dissolution is seen as part of Governor Okpebholo’s administrative restructuring efforts within the state’s public service.
