Legacy FM, a private radio station in Ebonyi State, has suspended its Acting General Manager, Odoh Chikwere, for allegedly criticising Governor Francis Nwifuru.
The suspension, announced on air by the station’s management on Saturday, cited “unruly behaviour” and disobedience to the station’s code of conduct. Chikwere was directed to hand over all company property to the next senior officer.
Reports indicate the action followed criticisms Chikwere made both on air and on his Facebook page, accusing the administration of poor communication, underperformance by appointees, and lack of clear policy direction. He also advised the governor to “step on toes to achieve results,” warning that current policies were weakening his support base.
Governor Nwifuru’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, dismissed the remarks as unfounded and accused Chikwere of ingratitude, pointing to government support for the station, including a new SUV, a transformer, and the construction of the access road to its premises.
