Obasanjo Library’s Hotel Threatens EFCC With Legal Action Over Alleged Invasion

Date:

The Management of the Green Legacy Hotel, operated under the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), has threatened to sue the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over what it described as an “invasion” by the agency’s operatives.

In a statement issued by the hotel’s Managing Director, Vitalis Ortese, about 50 armed EFCC operatives allegedly stormed the premises at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, during a private event, “shooting guns” and “threatening to kill people.”

Ortese said the event had been widely advertised beforehand, but neither the police stationed at the OOPL gates nor officers from Kemta Police Station were informed of any planned EFCC operation. He also alleged that the operatives did not present a warrant.

The management described the raid as “a clear case of invasion of private property” and a “blatant violation” of the rights of guests and the OOPL as a corporate citizen. It demanded an explanation and a formal apology from EFCC authorities, warning that failure to comply would result in legal action.
