Dana Air Flight Drifts Off Lagos Airport Runway

A Dana Air flight experienced a runaway excursion upon landing at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos. The mishap prompted immediate responses from the airport and emergency services.

Dana Air confirmed that all passengers safely exited the aircraft without sustaining any injuries. As required by law, the airline without delay reported the incident to the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

Following the incident, flight 5K BKI carrying 83 passengers from Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja to Lagos has been grounded as a safety precaution, while further investigation takes place.

Dana Air also thanked passengers for their patience and praised the airport authorities for their quick response to the incident.

The NSIB has launched an inquiry into the incident. Mrs. Wunmi Oladeji, NIBS’s Director of Public Affairs, confirmed the investigation, noting that investigators are presently at the scene gathering essential details.

Emergency responders, including the airport’s Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Services, were reported to have quickly moved to the scene to manage the situation. The aircraft stopped in a bushy area near the runaway, prompting urgent measures to safeguard the passenger and crew.

More information on the investigation will be provided as the NSIB collects data from the site.
