As part of efforts to enhance security and foster community trust, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Olatunji Disu, has pledged to reinforce safety measures, particularly in areas like Ushafa, Bwari, and surrounding environments. He assured Abuja residents that additional police personnel will be deployed to address security threats effectively.
CP Disu gave this assurance during his visit to border communities within the FCT, assessing the current security situation and evaluating the effectiveness of existing deployments. The visit is in line with the FCT Police Command’s commitment to ensuring peace and security across all parts of the capital, especially in areas like Bwari, which have faced recent security challenges, though normalcy has been restored.
The commissioner’s first stop was the Palace of the Emir of Bwari, where he met with traditional rulers, youth groups, and community members. He listened to their concerns and reiterated the Police Force’s dedication to quick and professional responses to emerging threats.
CP Disu stressed the importance of collaboration between the police and residents, encouraging communities to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities. He assured that the command has already bolstered its presence in critical areas within the Bwari axis to strengthen security.
Vice Chancellor of Veritas University, Prof. Ichoku Hyacinth, also expressed his support for the police during the forum.
