The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CNYL), a non-governmental organization, has called on the 10th National Assembly to dismiss the petition submitted by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) against Senate President Godswill Akpabio over allegations of sexual harassment.
Speaking on behalf of the coalition, Chief Victor Thompson, a representative from Akwa Ibom, expressed support for Senator Akpabio, urging Nigerians to back his leadership. He emphasized that the Senate President has demonstrated a commitment to the nation’s progress and should be allowed to focus on his legislative responsibilities without distractions.
In commemoration of International Women’s Day, the coalition also highlighted the need for increased female representation in Nigerian politics. The group urged the government to create equal opportunities for women based on merit, ensuring their active participation in governance and decision-making.
The call comes amid growing advocacy for gender inclusion in politics, with stakeholders pushing for policies that empower women to contribute meaningfully to governance.
