Abuja, Nigeria – The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, has approved the immediate redeployment of five judges across various judicial divisions of the court system.
This was made known in an official statement issued on Monday by Catherine Christopher, Director of Information at the Federal High Court of Nigeria.
List of Redeployed Judges and New Postings:
- Justice M. Umar – from Enugu Division to Abuja Division
- Justice Tijjani Ringim – from Gombe Division to Yola Division
- Justice M. Segun-Bello – from Abakaliki Division to Enugu Division
- Justice Bala Usman – from Yola Division to Awka Division
- Justice Amina Mohammed – from Awka Division to Gombe Division
Instructions and Interim Arrangements
The statement emphasized that the redeployments take effect immediately, and directed all affected judges to prioritize the delivery of pending judgments at their current stations before relocating.
In the interim:
- Judges currently serving in the Abakaliki and Katsina Divisions are to assume jurisdiction over all pending and new cases within those areas until further notice.
Additionally, the Court announced an administrative change in the Abuja Judicial Division:
“All cases previously assigned to Court No. 5 in Abuja will now be handled by the newly redeployed judge assigned to that division,” the statement clarified.
The Chief Judge urged litigants and legal practitioners not to apply for reassignment of such cases, as the transfer process has been streamlined to ensure continuity and efficiency in court operations.
