Premier League side Brentford have confirmed the signing of England international and former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson on a two-year deal, following his departure from Dutch club Ajax.
The 34-year-old midfielder joins the Bees as a free agent, bringing with him a wealth of experience from a distinguished career spanning over a decade at the highest level.
Henderson enjoyed a decorated 12-year stint at Liverpool, where he lifted numerous major honours including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, Community Shield, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
His recent career saw brief spells abroad — first at Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq, where he reunited with former teammate and manager Steven Gerrard in July 2023, before a mutual contract termination six months later. He then signed for Ajax in January 2024, adding Eredivisie experience to his résumé.
Henderson returned to the England setup in March 2025 under new national team manager Thomas Tuchel, after last featuring in November 2023. He currently boasts 84 caps for the Three Lions.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank hailed the signing as a “massive addition” to the squad. “Jordan’s leadership, experience, and professionalism will be invaluable both on and off the pitch,” he said.
Henderson is expected to join pre-season training this week as Brentford gear up for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
