Nigerian Military has confirmed the death of five Soldiers who are members of OPERATION UDO KA deployed at Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Areas adjourning Aba metropolis in Abia State who were attacked and killed by IPOB/ESN terrorists.
Director Defence Media Operations Major General Edward Buba, in a statement, said the troops deployed to enforce peace in the area and protect the citizens were mass attacked by the terrorists.
The statement described that the terrorists in 3 tinted Prado Toyota SUVs and others from built-up areas surrounded and sprang a surprise attack on the checkpoint.
Major General Buba added that six civilians lost their lives in the crossfire.
As the armed forces mourn the death of these troops, General Buba disclosed that investigation is ongoing concerning the attack. The military also promised to retaliate the attack on its troops, vowing that their response would be brutal.
