Manchester United board member, Sir Dave Brailsford addressed fans at the club’s EFL Cup victory over Leicester on Wednesday, indicating a potential deal with Amorim.
However, officials from Sporting have stated that no official agreement is in place, and discussions are ongoing. Manchester United have declined to comment on the situation.
Recent negotiations have focused on Amorim’s release, as Sporting officials wish for the 39-year-old to stay in his position beyond Friday’s league match against Estrela.
