Akwa United of Uyo has officially accepted the resignation of Mohammed Babaganaru as the head coach of the Nigeria Premier Football League side.
Coach Babaganaru stepped down from his position, with the club currently at the bottom of the league table after 16 rounds of matches.
Reacting to the resignation, the club’s chairman, Elder Paul Bassey, described Babaganaru as a dedicated professional who will be greatly missed. However, he added that it was time for the club to chart a new direction.
In the interim, the club has appointed the team’s psychologist, Coach Ime Uko, as the Technical adviser. The assistant coaching staff, led by Coach Umar Abdullahi, will take charge of the team until a permanent head coach is appointed.
Akwa United, the 2021 NPFL champions and two-time FA Cup winners, currently find themselves in the relegation zone, with 16 points from 16 matches after four victories, four draws, and eight losses.
