Akwa Ibom Declares Friday, November 29 Work-Free Day to Honor Late First Lady

The Akwa Ibom State Government has declared Friday, November 29, 2024, as a work-free day to honor the late First Lady, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno.

This announcement was contained in a press release issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, on November 27, 2024.

The decision follows consultations with the bereaved family as part of preparations for her final home-going program.

The work-free day is intended to allow Akwa Ibom residents to pay their last respects to the late First Lady, whose funeral service will take place in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.

Pastor Patience Umo Eno, fondly remembered for her compassion and service to humanity, passed away while serving as the state’s First Lady, leaving behind a legacy of humility and devotion to the people.

In the release, the government called on citizens to join the family in bidding farewell to a woman described as a “dear mother” to the state. It also prayed for her soul to find eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord, acknowledging her contributions to the development and unity of Akwa Ibom State.
