Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called for the arrest of the Senator representing Osun East, Francis Fadahunsi, over alleged inflammatory comments directed at members of the Accord Party ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Adeleke made the call during an emergency press briefing in Osogbo, describing the controversy surrounding the senator’s remarks as a security matter that requires urgent attention.
Fadahunsi, a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, came under criticism after a video circulated online in which he appeared to call on his supporters to attack Accord members.
The senator has since denied advocating violence, explaining that his remarks were metaphorical and were intended to encourage supporters to defeat the Accord Party peacefully at the polls.
The Osun State Police Command has summoned Fadahunsi to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo to explain the circumstances surrounding his comments.

Governor Adeleke said he had contacted the Inspector-General of Police and requested an investigation into the matter, while also calling on the police and Department of State Services to take appropriate action.
The governor also raised concerns over alleged plans to arrest Accord Party leaders in the state and transfer them to Abuja ahead of the election. He asked the Inspector-General of Police to clarify whether such a directive had been issued.
Adeleke further alleged that more than 62 Accord members were being held by the police without charges and accused security operatives of carrying out arrests across several local government areas.
He called on security agencies to remain neutral, uphold due process and ensure fair policing before, during and after the August 15 governorship election.
