Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie has accused Power Oil of continuing to use her image for promotional purposes years after the expiration of her endorsement contract.
The actress raised the issue on social media after discovering that her image was still being displayed on promotional billboards associated with the brand.
According to Johnson, her endorsement agreement with Power Oil ended about four years ago, but the company has continued to use her likeness without her authorisation.
She expressed frustration over the development and questioned the continued commercial use of her image despite the expiration of their contractual relationship.
The development has generated reactions online, with discussions focusing on image rights, endorsement agreements and corporate responsibility in the use of celebrities’ identities for advertising.
